Sunrise/Sunset at 155 Cedar St, World Trade Center, from 5:00 AM-9:00 PM
Contemporaneous IMAGINATION presents “Sunrise/Sunset” by composer Brian Petuch, a 16-hour communal performance that tracks the movement of the sun from sunrise to sunset on the summer solstice, the first day of summer and longest day of the year. Like the day itself, the program begins with primordial hush (5:00am), intensifies to a brilliant climax at midday (1:00pm) and fades away with a “green flash” summation of the day just after sunset (8:45-9:00 pm). Listeners, both intentional and incidental, are invited to come by at any point during the day to enjoy this beautiful meditation on the passage of time and our place beneath the sun.
Rain or shine. For additional details, visit contemporaneous.org and to sign up to participant go to Sunrise/Sunset.
