We are proud to partner with many different communities and organizations throughout the five boroughs. The more diverse the groups […]
El Puente Green Light District (GLD) and El Puente CADRE (Community Artists’ Development & Resources Exchange) partner with the Southside Merchants, St. Paul’s Church and BombaYo to present La Trullita Navideña, a cultural experience fusing the exuberant Caribbean tradition of parranda with the more reflective Mexican tradition of posada. Join us for singing, drumming and celebration on Havemeyer St in Los Sures, the Southside of Williamsburg! The parranda will conclude with a closing party at El Puente headquarters from 5:00 – 6:00 pm.
Leading up to Make Music Winter, join BombaYo on Tuesdays in December (the 2nd, 9th and 16th), for free parranda workshops at the Williamsburg Public Library from 6:30 – 7:30pm.

El Puente is a community-driven arts, human rights, and youth development institution that nurtures leaders for peace and justice in Los Sures (the Southside) of Williamsburg and Bushwick communities of Brooklyn. The El Puente Green Light District (GLD) is a strategic ten-year initiative to sustain, grow, green, and celebrate Williamsburg, Brooklyn's Southside community through environmental justice organizing and advocacy, wellness programming, public and community art projects, and energy efficiency outreach. El Puente CADRE (Community Artists' Development & Resource Exchange) is El Puente's network of mostly Latino community artists, artisans and cultural workers rooted in North Brooklyn. CADRE members exchange ideas and share resources; develop and present individual and collaborative work; and design and implement strategies for community sustainability.
BombaYo ignites the ancestral rhythms and dance of Afro Puerto Rican Bomba. The synergy of drumming, call and response singing and dance, provide the foundation for a dynamic interplay between the primo drummer and solo dancer. BombaYo stirs the soul in a way that only music and dance can to uplift and celebrate our deeper humanity. In the spirit of Sankofa, BombaYo members draw from the bomba tradition to enrich their lives, embrace their cultural legacy, and share these gifts with people of all ages and abilities.
Southside Merchants Association is an organization creating a strong partnership between local businesses and the community on and around Broadway and Havemeyer Streets in Southside Williamsburg, Brooklyn. We welcome local merchants, property owners and the community to join monthly gatherings to meet your neighborhood entrepreneurs and leaders, learn how to grow your business and navigate city government, and work together to improve the quality of life and work in the Southside community.
