Always wanted to host a concert in a park for Make Music New York? This is your chance! Our permits […]
This wheeled event is the continuation of MMNY’s winter bike parades. Organized by Pat Spadine and Sam Sowyrda, this concert-in-transit will feature echoes of “Eine Brise” by revolutionary composer Mauricio Kagel, “RPM” by Pat Spadine and new additions to the growing repertoire of participatory music making for bike riders. This year’s pedaling will take place on the East River Bikeway, creating a loop from South Street to 23rd Street and back.
Meet up time is 5:30 PM for a 6 PM start to the ride.
Of course you are free to just roll up, and you let us know if you will be joining this event here in case we have updates for you on this exciting event!
Sam Sowyrda is a percussionist and composer living in Ridgewood, Queens. In addition performing his own compositions for vibraphone, hammered dulcimer, and construction sites, he is a member of the frog-prog band Cloud Becomes Your Hand, and the avant-puppet troupe Living Things. When not playing music Sam is usually rebuilding historic barns, fixing pianos, or taking care of his daughter Sasha.
Composer, amateur engineer, scientific tourist, and pack rat P. Spadine spends the vast majority of his time guiding the Ashcan Orchestra thru it's glorification rites praising the known universe and is incredibly grateful for the opportunities shared by D.I.Y. basements to respectable NYC institutions that have allowed Ashcan to share it's menagerie since 2007.
